This is item number 116 in the 1889 Koenig catalogue,
"Striking reed pipe with two conical reservoirs ... 30 francs." The illustration
in the catalogue shows a circular resonator.
The organ pipe is at the University of Toronto. |
The detailed picture at the right shows the
apparatus with the plenum chamber removed to illustrate the operation of
the reed. The effective length of the reed, and hence its frequency, is
controlled by the position of the tuning wire projecting through the top
of the chamber. The overtone structure is controlled by the shape and length
of the resonator.
Another Koenig reed pipe is at St. Patrick's College at Maynooth, Ireland. |
