This apparatus is 58 cm in length, has a connection at
either end, a drain or inlet with a stopcock in the bottom and four connections
on the top. One of the top connections has a piece screwed in that is fitted
with a stopcock and the the remains of some reservoir at the top. What is
it? A good suggestion is that it was used to calibrate thermometers: low pressure steam came in one end and out the other. The thermomters were inserted in the small holes at the top and the condensate was let out of the bottom tap. |
