Sounding Cylinders
This apparatus, on display at the Callan Museum of St. Patrick's College in Maynooth, County Kildare, Ireland, is designed to demonstrate the production of the major chord. The demonstration starts with the upper ends of the cylinders closed by corks. These are removed one at a time, starting with the longest tube, and the musical sounds are produced. The design is by Rudolph Koenig, and this apparatus was furnished by Yeates of Dublin.
