When a spherical flask with a small amount of mercury
in it is whirled, the mercury forms a band around the middle of the flask.
At the left is a flask used with a rotator
at Kenyon College. At the right is a rotator and flask at Bowdoin College,
and was probably made by Ritchie of Boston. Its cost was $8.00 to $10.00,
including the flask, figure
of the earth apparatus, and six other demonstrations |
